Ghosts Of Former Lovers: 5 Poems
6 December, 2009
Author: Colin Stewart
Our love would rise with the morning sky
so I request this return to days gone by
but I do not breathe as I did before.
The sun dosen't shine here anymore!
---
As I caress your picture in this frame
the spirit world has made a claim
and serendipity has left behind a clue
with evidence of ghostly residue!
---
My son I have only thought of you.
I am the father you never knew
and I am a soldier who died in some far off land
but I tuck you in tonight with this ghostly hand!
---
There's an apocalypse of men coming around
who are soft as mush but hard as the ground
and something, you see, is not quite right
for all of the women they've treated like shite!
---
Maybe you loved me a little too well.
I stand here in death's shadow with a story to tell
as her culinary skills were anything but dull.
A pressure cooker became the home for my skull!
