The Eyes Which Conceal The Darkness Within: 5 Poems
11 January, 2010
Author: Colin Stewart
Ever since that day you were born
you'll cry you'll moan and now you're torn
when peaks and valleys are just part of the norm
because the blues don't exist in text book form!
---
From out of his painting in a moment surreal
he stepped into reality and made a deal
that a gesture of chivalry would take care of it all
with the courtesan in the frame across the hall!
---
I sit here because you shouldn't be alone.
In the life you once led you were certainly prone
by neglecting your health and now you moan
to this guardian who faces time as an angel of stone!
---
Her friend of feathers sits silently in his cage.
Unfortunately some people are not meant to age
and the parrot is traumatized because he saw it all
at the scene of the crime with the blood on the wall!
---
Each day she would pass and as I did see
her dark pretty eyes never set upon me
but I'll have this young maiden and we'll both be free
by laying down beside each other for eternity!
