Evidently they couldn't care less
that apathy had come to caress
selective hearing and its undue duress
by leaving us in one bloody mess!

------

You can achieve your goals by making a claim
this was the way to fortune and fame
but true character is built without any blame
on the hurdles in life and what you overcame!

------

Her steamer trunk went on a trip today
and it certainly appears there is only one way
to explain the peculiar way she died
with this body of mystery laying inside.

------

He's back from the dead. It was time to rise
but many years later Jesus had a surprise

The true nature of the beast never dies!

------

I lay here with her although I think of you.
I'm painted all over with the color of blue.
I lay here with others. It's all I can do
but daily are those memories I still have of you!

Love Lost

Your last stanza is sweet and sorrowful. One can never substitute a great past love, but only hope to fill in the hours with others, where we would otherwise be reminiscing.

Good write Colin.

I have to agree with Ms Witch

The last stanza is quite touching to me also.. Worse thing is when the great love that haunts the memories shows up again after many years and you want to act on the remaining love... Great stanza/poem
