Prodigal Son
7 June, 2010

vinebar

I’m haunted by the memories of a past beleaguered with regret.
My life is just a story told by people I have never met.
And I don’t know where I’m goin’,
But I’m sure of where I’ve been.
I think my faith is growin’,
And I’m on track again.

I’ve wandered through the darkness, on my way to where I am today.
But I still have the scars left by mistakes I made along the way.
And I don’t know if I’m winning,
But I do know what I’ve lost.
I’ll make a new beginning,
No matter what the cost.

Cause I believe
It’s not too late
To put my pride away,
To change my life,
And start again,
And find another way.
Father I
Have nowhere left to run.
Please welcome home
Your prodigal son.

Reflections in a mirror betray secrets we don’t want to face.
We wear masks to hide our imperfections, and cover our disgrace.
I can see how far I’ve wandered,
And I know how much I’ve learned.
I pray the Lord up yonder,
Is pleased that I’ve returned!

Cause I believe
It’s not too late
To put my pride away,
To change my life,
And start again,
And find another way.
Father I
Have nowhere left to run.
Please welcome home
Your prodigal son.

Yes I can see how far I’ve wandered,
And I know how much I’ve learned.
I pray the Lord up yonder,
Is pleased that I’ve returned!
