Rapture

Harold talked about the Rapture,
As often as he could.
Saying: "This will be God's reward,
For the righteous and good."

Twelve thousand souls, from every tribe,
Will rise above it all.
And among them will be Harold,
To watch the sickle fall.

But Harold fails to see the truth,
Behind his lofty claim.
Its pride and lust, envy and greed,
That feeds his righteous flame.

Only the proud lift themselves up,
Above the multitudes.
It's a status envy covets,
With selfish fortitude.

For greed compels his lustful quest,
To become God's elite.
To look down on the rest of us,
So far beneath his feet.

He thinks he is more worthy than
The rest of creation,
To share in God's greatest reward:
Ultimate salvation!

But there is no virtue in this,
I see no righteous man.
Where are the selfless values of
The Good Samaritan?

He only wants to save himself,
So HE can dwell with GOD.
The righteousness he shares with you,
Is only a facade.

For he would never give this up,
These vain and lofty goals.
He'd rather assign second best,
To our "less worthy" souls.

It isn't hard to see the truth,
Concealed behind his words.
The shepherd who would save himself,
Cannot protect the herds.

Unless you're willing to give up,
Rewards you think you've earned,
You will be here, upon the ground,
The day Jesus returns.

To those who THINK they're God's elite,
And say they know His mind.
Don't be surprised if Rapture comes,
And you get left behind.

Sick Em!

Man! Another scathing review of flawed beliefs!

Oh my gosh!

I've got to show this to my uncle! He talks about the rapture all the time. He thinks he's going to disappear before the you know what hits the fan. Maybe he'll learn something, or maybe he'll just say that your writing is influanced by Satan, like he does with everyone who challenges him. Excellent writing Mr. Spencer.
