The Soldier
Author: Mark Spencer

The soldier is a casualty
Of a sly enemy.
He fights the wars that others start,
To show his loyalty.

But he fights for politicians,
In fancy suits and ties.
Who eat sixteen dollar muffins,
While the brave soldier dies.

$16 muffins...

those guys must be eating at the restaurant at the bottom of the Watergate... they sell a cup of coffee there for eight bucks (at least they did back in the year that The Wall was dedicated... went there with a bunch of Vets and Gold Star Mothers... we checked the menu and left, figuring that fools and their money (probably our tax dollars) were soon parted at that place.
