Butterfly Angels

Once upon a time, there was a little girl,
Who lived in a little house in a little town.
She played little games with her little friends,
She was a little princess with a little crown.

One day the little girl, went outside to play,
Where she captured a butterfly in her net.
“Let me out of here,” cried the butterfly,
“I am much too busy to become someone’s pet.”

This talking butterfly didn’t scare the girl,
She simply smiled and asked; “Who might you be?”
“I am very special,” said the butterfly.
“I am your Guardian Angel, you see.”

“In Heaven I’m called a butterfly Angel,
Because all of my kind have butterfly wings.
We only watch over the good little girls,
Because they are the Lord’s most precious things.”

“That’s why you must let me out of your net,
So I can continue to look out for you.
And someday I will take you for a ride,
To those magical places where we once flew.”

So the girl let the butterfly Angel go,
He kissed her and thanked her for setting him free.
He said; “The next time you see a butterfly,
It could be a Butterfly Angel, just like me.”

And sure enough, as the little girl grew up,
She saw them every time hardships came along.
The tougher things got, the more she would see,
They would flutter about, while singing their song.

Then came the day when she was very old,
Her Butterfly Angel came and took her away.
He carried her to Heaven, then welcomed her home,
And all of creation celebrated that day.

As her family gathered at her funeral,
They saw clouds quickly filling up the skies.
But were shocked to find they weren’t clouds at all,
Instead, the sky became filled with butterflies.

Neat!

What a creative subject for a poem! I loved it! I usually like the more serious, ominous poems but this made me smile :o)
Great work!
