Why?

Is it too much to ask, Lord?
I just want to know why!
Why did you let it happen????
Why did my son have to die????

I know you can hear me God!
You’re listening to me right now!!!
Why can’t you just answer me????
Instead you just disavow!

Why did you let him suffer?????
From pain, he never escaped!!!
Did he really deserve AIDS????
He didn’t ask to be raped!!!

He was only eight years old!!!!
Why did you ignore his plight????
His attacker was a priest!!!!
I knew something wasn’t right!!

My instincts tried to warn me!!
But you wouldn’t let me hear!!!
You made me deaf to his cries,
Even though the truth was clear!!!

You just let me ignore him,
You made me think my boy lied!!!
If you had let me listen,
My son never would have died!!!!!

God, this has to be your fault,
No other could it have been!!
He was a priest in your house!!!!
He should have been free of sin!!!!!

Lord, please answer my question!
Tell me where the guilt should be!
Was it you who made me blind?
Or does the fault lie with me?

Is it too much to ask, Lord?
I just want to know why!
Why did I let it happen?
Why did my son have to die?

Mark.......

WOW! this was indeed a very sad poem..drew a flood of tears to my eyes..i am speechless..this was sad. no child deserves to go thru this..a factor that may coincide to why a child is always a victim..their voice seems to go unheard...because they have such imaginary minds. know your child trust your child...talk to them of the good and bad touches...i plead to all parents to follow their heart to listen to the voice of a child..9 out of 10 times it is very real this stuff really happens, let them opened their heart to trust you, open yours to them. a 9 year old child opened their heart to me and my famiy, i told him that he did nothing wrong but the adult in the picture was at fault and that i needed to bring it to the attention of another family member whom works on child abuse cases, so i presented it to another family member whom was in the position to intervene. they and the authorities meet w/the child, unfortunantly it was a young family member that went thru this nightmare, a family member remains upset w/me over the fact that i pursued it further...in my job all forms of abuse that i happen to come in contact with i need to report.i am also a child advocate,I AM the VOICE of a child..the child is grown now, the person whom did the criminal act faced criminal charges and is doing time... thank you for sharing your poem...please tell me this didn't happen to your child...if so, i am so sorry.... may you memories of him be your strength..and may you be the voice to guide the next child from becoming the next victim .. this poem was extremely powerful...Terrie*
