The Cross
27 August, 2003

It hangs upon a chain of gold.
Beautiful yet very old.

A symbol of our gain and loss,
A burden born upon the cross.

It reminds me each and every day,
Of a gift I'd never throw away.

Sometimes I cannot bear it's weight,
When the load becomes too great.

Yet I strive on to reach my goal,
Though weary in body and in soul.

This road we walk may hinder me.
And there are those who disagree,

With my choice to take this path.
So I must also bear their wrath.

Which is something I would gladly do,
For that which I believe is true.

A truth that aside so many toss,
That saved our souls upon the cross.
