A Fairytale

Once upon a magic time, on a fairytale world.
There was a lollypop forest and a Beautiful Girl.
She lived in a gingerbread cottage, on a marble fudge hill,
and you could smell the apple pies cooling on her windowsill.

Down at the lemonade river she would spend her days,
with friends from the lollypop forest, she loved the games they played.
In the games she was a princess with a rock candy crown,
who lived in the peppermint palace above the marshmallow town.

In the cotton candy jungle an Evil Wizard smiled.
He'd been watching this young girl ever since she was a child.
He listened to her prayers, knew they might come true someday.
So he sent his goblin slaves to carry her away.

Atop the marmalade mountain there lived a Fairy Queen.
And in her crystal ball, she watched the evil scene.
So she sent three good fairies to stop the goblin slaves,
and bury them forever in the peanut brittle caves.

In the cotton candy jungle the Evil Wizard sneered.
He was banished to molasses swamp as everybody cheered.
But in the lollypop forest the girl just sat and starred.
Looking up to heaven for an answer to her prayer.

Then from the peppermint palace came the son of a King.
He was searching for a princess to wear his wedding ring.
He came to the lollypop forest on that fairytale world,
where he made a wish come true for a Beautiful Girl.

It's a never ending story about a Girl and a Boy.
Of love found in a fairytale that brought everlasting joy.
They shared so much together, the love and the laughter.
And as this kind of story goes, they lived happily ever after.

Sweet tooth good

This is such a good poem. Great imagination. I couldn't get this one out of my mind. I must have a sweet tooth. Thanks Mark.

A Bedtime Story

Thanks Crispy. I appreciate your comments. I wrote this years ago for the daughters of my then girlfriend Lisa. At the time the oldest (Jennifer) was 7, and the youngest (Kristen) was 5. So it made for a sweet bedtime story. They seemed to like it anyway. Thanks again.

Mark, your images are so well defined and depicted. It would be really good if you created illustrations for your characters, but all the same, I can see them with your descriptive terms.
