What The Rapids Wrote

Writing is like a flowing river
Something comes to mind and it all flows out
Slowly at first, then problems occur
and the thoughts are now all about
That river is now immortal rapids
Which never seem to die
The rapids never stop
The rivers overflowing
The minds in 10 directions
Never sure where it's going

You can't think anymore
You've reached that point
The falling point is coming
You've lost control of every thought
Confusion and chaos has your hands swaying

As you write down all these rapid thoughts
The waterfall is here, you fall immensly
Crashing suspencfully into
the knots of the rapids and thoughts that flow
The cycle of rapids continues
until you let it all out
The river always calms itself
That's how it flows about
You're suddenly looking at a piece of paper
Which now contains the violent flowing
of the rapids and tides of your own raging river

To understand the river rapids, you must understand yourself
Writing is like a raging river
Has always seemed that way
My hand twisting over paper
Like crazy rapids on a rainy day
The rapids always calm
The thrashing of currents is no longer
Every knot, every word, every thought
Now ironed out on paper
I close the book, climb out of the boat
Put the pen away
And well, That's the way I float
Stand back and pull myself together
And read exactly what the rapids wrote
