Equally Rich

My little room, three walls, a desk,
half a broken window and a bed.
Sitting here thinking about
what you have just said.
I sell my own possesions
in order to make some cents.

Looking at the cracks in the walls
and where the door would be if I had one,
listening to you tell me
about the lottery you've just won.
There's no way on earth you could try
to understand who you are next to me.
But I'll tell you right now, you are
everything I've ever wanted to be.
Can't you see how good life has been for you?
Stop complaining about what you don't have
and think about things you DO.
While sitting in my only chair, looking out my half broken window,
you tell me about how little you have,
and how much you've lost.
To get what you've once had,
I'd go to almost any cost.
I never get the chance to speak,
or the chance to make something of me.
The closest I've been to riches and money,
has been having you, my friend, standing next to me.
If I were you, would I be so blind?
Please open your eyes and be not so self involved,
for if you see the rest of the world,
we're all the same inside, problem solved
