Impending Darkness
20 April, 1999
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)

vinebar

Impending darkness once again invades
absorbing all that is good
Vases of dead roses remain
The Love once felt now gone

Crying no longer washes the realities away
Now scarred over the heart grows colder
Naiveté is now a distant memory
Youth forever shadowed in the over growth of pain

Once skipping through fields of gold
A child shot down
Blasted open blood flows freely
As the last breath is breathed

Remains of what was
As the once unfeeling hearts mourn
It mattered not before
Facades of caring now weep

------- Author's Notes -------

This was written just an hour before the tragedy in Columbine High school in Denver. Now people across the world think about the terrible happenings. Do they know where their children are and what they are doing? Do they care?
