The Path

She comes upon a quiet path,
Over hill and hollow.
A private road through unknown lands,
That none but she may follow.

Once she sought a different way,
Where many chose to walk.
With guides to light the way ahead,
As a shepherd leads the flock.

They claimed to have the answers;
They said they knew the way.
Said she only had to follow,
And she would not be lead astray.

But near that great and beaten path
Another road stretched out.
With sign posts that bore her name,
And called her with a shout.

The shepherds bade her not to go;
That road would be her end.
On such a path, there is no guide,
No one to call her friend.

While here there were no mysteries,
No choices to be made.
She only had to follow,
A course already laid.

But that did not seem right to her,
That others made her choice.
And so she left that road behind
To heed a higher voice.

It called her down that quiet path,
And her heart began to stir.
For she alone could chart the way,
Down a road meant just for her.

Though she may encounter perils,
On this path when e're she came.
She knows now where she's going,
For the road signs bear her name.

And she thinks of all those people,
On that road that leads to wrath.
Who are looking for salvation
On someone else's path.

Matthew 7: 13-14

I believe what best explains this poem is Matthew 7: 13-14: "Enter through the narrow gate. The gate that leads to death is wide, the road is clear and many choose to travel it. But how narrow is the gate that leads to life, how rough the road and how few there are who find it."

This poem isn't saying turn away from the church and other religious organizations. It simply points out that you must follow the path God calls you down. Churches and religious leaders can't do it for you. Your path is known only to you and God. Don't fall into the trap of turning over the direction of your life to guides who don't know your path. Many choose to travel that road. It's easy, it's lazy and you will not like the destination. I'm not saying that destination will be Hell, but you will have to answer for letting men and women lead you instead of God. Don't take someone else's path, take your own. I love you, and I want to see you all when we reach the end of our roads.

Mark, I love this poem, and I think that we have to make this choice everyday so that we can stay on the path that is cut out just for us. We shouldn't be cookie cutter people. We are special and unique, all having a purpose, and should never be the extension of another man's will.

The lady above is a compass

She has helped me find a safer path, got me off the streets, so to speak. Her courage, faith, and dedication, certainly, earned my respect.

She will never walk alone. I appreciate it Mark, you and this lady, pointing out the path. The rest is up to me.

Thank You Mark and same to the lady.
