The Roads Not Taken

I came to a road that led to harmony,
To a closer connection with my family,
But I did not take that road.

I came to another road without remorse,
A road paved with love that didn’t end in divorce.
But I did not take that road.

Then I came to a road free of regretful plight;
A path where every decision I made was right.
But I did not take that road.

Then I found a road full of possibilities,
Free from my daily responsibilities.
But I did not take that road.

I saw another that could be my retreat,
Though it’s offered addictions would be my defeat.
So I did not take that road.

I came to a road without love or romance,
Where fear of the risk would not let me take the chance;
And I did not take that road.

Then I came to a road paved with rejection,
With no need for love, nor my daughter’s affection.
And I did not take that road.

And yet another road, this one full of regret,
For roads not taken, that won’t let you forget.
But I did not take that road.

Then finally a road that would lead to a place,
Where starry dreams are found in a daughter’s embrace.
I’m so glad I took that road.

The right road

It is great when we finally find the right roads to turn on our life's journeys.. good writing.. the suspense of wondering which road you would choose held up to the end...
